24Library is a library management app for study rooms, with a free plan and a low yearly Premium price. Owners usually start looking for a 24Library alternative for one of three reasons: the free plan stops at 50 students, they want reminders on WhatsApp rather than SMS, or they want the price written in a way they can predict for next year.

Quick answer

The main 24Library alternatives for Indian study libraries are Librify (free plan with no student or seat cap), SeatWise (one all-features plan at ₹1,499 a year), Libly (free up to 20 students, WhatsApp API reminders) and BookMyLib (free up to 100 active members). Pick by your student count across all shifts, then by how you want reminders sent.

Librify is a library management app for private self-study libraries and reading rooms in India, and Librify publishes this blog. So this comparison states its criteria first, links every competitor fact to the competitor's own page, and names what each product does well. All prices are as of October 2026.

What does 24Library do well?

24Library does three things well. Its free plan is free forever, not a trial. Its Premium price is low: the 24Library pricing page lists Premium at ₹749 a year as a limited-time offer, against a list price of ₹2,399. And it offers a 30-day money-back guarantee on Premium, which lowers the risk of trying it.

It also has one of the largest content libraries in this category, with city pages and guides, and a Play Store app rated 5.0 on a small number of reviews. For a new owner with 30 seats and one shift, 24Library's free plan can be enough to start.

Why do owners look for a 24Library alternative?

The 50-student cap on the free plan is the most common trigger. A 40-seat library with a morning and an evening shift can have 70 or 80 students on the books, so the cap arrives long before the seats are full. At that point the choice is Premium or another app.

The second trigger is the reminder channel. The 24Library pricing page lists SMS payment reminders as a Premium feature. If your students open WhatsApp twenty times a day and never check SMS, you will want reminders and receipts on WhatsApp instead.

The third is price clarity. A limited-time yearly price is good value today, but you can't be sure what renewal will cost after the offer ends. Owners who budget per month often prefer a fixed monthly or seat-based price.

How we compared the alternatives

We used five criteria that matter to a 30 to 150 seat self-study library. Each fact below comes from the product's own pricing page, read in October 2026.

  1. Free plan limit: students, seats or members allowed without paying.
  2. Paid price for one year, at the published rate.
  3. Reminder channel: SMS, WhatsApp from your own phone, or WhatsApp sent automatically.
  4. Trial or refund terms.
  5. Who it fits best, by library size and number of shifts.

App Free plan limit Paid price (yearly) Reminders Trial or refund
24Library 1 branch, 1 admin, 50 students ₹749 limited-time (list ₹2,399) SMS payment reminders (Premium) 30-day money-back on Premium
Librify 1 branch, 1 owner and 1 admin login, no student or seat cap Mini ₹590 (1-50 seats), ₹990 (51-100 seats) WhatsApp receipts and due messages (Mini, Pro); automatic expiry reminders (Pro) 30-day Pro trial
SeatWise No free plan ₹1,499 (one plan, all features) Automatic WhatsApp reminders 7, 3 and 1 day before renewal 14-day trial, 7-day refund
Libly Up to 20 students, manual reminders only ₹1,999 + 18% GST WhatsApp via official Business API (paid) Free plan
BookMyLib 1 branch, 100 seats, 100 active members, 1 staff login Pro ₹249 a month 100 WhatsApp messages a month on free; 500 on Pro 14-day Pro trial

Librify: free plan without a student cap

Librify fits the owner who hit the 50-student wall. Librify's free plan does not cap the number of students or seats; it is limited to one branch and one owner and one admin login (as of October 2026). It includes student management, QR self-registration, seats and shifts, attendance and the student app.

Paid plans are priced by seat count. Mini costs ₹59 a month for up to 50 seats and ₹99 a month for 51 to 100 seats; yearly billing costs 10 times the monthly price, so ₹590 or ₹990 a year. Mini adds daily Excel reports, revenue and expense tracking, a custom registration form and WhatsApp payment receipts and payment-due messages. The full table is on Librify pricing by seat count.

Pro adds automatic WhatsApp expiry reminders and unlimited branches and logins. Morning, evening, night, full-day and 24-hour shifts with custom timings are on every plan, and the seat map with fixed and floating seats shows which seat is free in which shift.

The limitation: Librify records UPI and cash payments and tracks dues, but it does not collect money online. If you want students to pay inside an app, look at BookMyLib or SeatWise instead.

SeatWise, Libly and BookMyLib

SeatWise: one plan, every feature

SeatWise suits an owner who wants no tiers at all. The SeatWise pricing page lists ₹199 a month, ₹999 for six months or ₹1,499 a year, with unlimited members and unlimited branches on every plan. Reminders go out automatically 7, 3 and 1 day before renewal, and plans do not auto-renew. There is no free plan, only a 14-day trial, and the account turns read-only when the plan lapses.

Libly: WhatsApp API on paid plans

Libly offers a free-forever plan for up to 20 students with manual reminders, and paid plans at ₹199 a month or ₹1,999 a year, plus 18% GST. Paid plans send WhatsApp reminders through the official WhatsApp Business API, in Hindi, English or Hinglish. The 20-student limit makes the free plan a trial in practice for most libraries.

BookMyLib: online fee collection

The BookMyLib pricing page lists a lifetime free plan with 1 branch, up to 100 seats, 100 active members, 1 staff login and 100 WhatsApp messages a month. Pro at ₹249 a month adds online fee collection to your own UPI or bank account. If online collection matters most, BookMyLib is worth a trial.

Mistake we see often

Owners compare free plans by seat count and forget shifts. A 50-student cap sounds like a 50-seat library, but with two shifts it covers only 25 seats fully. Count students on the books, not chairs, before you pick a free plan.

Which alternative fits your library?

Use your student count across all shifts as the first filter, then the reminder channel.

  • Under 20 students, one shift: any free plan works. Stay on 24Library if you are happy there.
  • 20 to 50 students: 24Library free, BookMyLib free or Librify free. Pick the one whose seat map matches how you assign seats.
  • 50 to 300 students on one branch: Librify free costs nothing; Librify Mini at ₹590 to ₹990 a year adds reports and WhatsApp receipts. 24Library Premium at the offer price is also cheap.
  • Two or more branches: SeatWise (unlimited branches on one plan) or Librify Pro.
  • Online fee collection needed: BookMyLib Pro or SeatWise.

How to switch from 24Library without losing data

Switch at the start of a billing cycle, not in the middle. If most of your renewals fall in the first week of the month, moving on the 25th gives you a quiet week to set up.

  1. Write down or export every active student: name, phone, seat, shift, plan end date and amount due.
  2. Set up shifts and seat counts in the new app first, so seats exist before students do.
  3. Add students with their real end dates, not the date you entered them.
  4. Run both apps for one cycle and compare who shows as due.
  5. Tell students the new QR or app link at the counter and in your WhatsApp group.

The register-to-app migration guide covers the same steps for owners coming from paper. You can also see all comparisons on the Librify compare page.

Disclosure: Librify publishes this blog. We have tried to keep this comparison fair; check each product's own site for current details.

Frequently asked questions

Is 24Library free?

Yes, 24Library has a free-forever plan. As of October 2026, its pricing page says the free plan covers 1 branch and 1 admin account and is capped at 50 students. Unlimited students, invoices, SMS payment reminders and revenue reports come with Premium, listed at a limited-time ₹749 a year.

What is the best free alternative to 24Library?

It depends on what limit you hit. If the 50-student cap is the problem, Librify's free plan does not cap students or seats (one branch, one owner and one admin login). If you only have a handful of students, BookMyLib and Libly also have free plans with their own member limits.

Which 24Library alternative sends WhatsApp reminders?

Several do. SeatWise lists automatic WhatsApp renewal reminders on its single plan, Libly sends reminders through the official WhatsApp Business API on paid plans, and Librify sends WhatsApp receipts and payment-due messages on Mini and Pro, with automatic expiry reminders on Pro.

Can I move my students from 24Library to another app?

Yes, but plan it. Export or write down each student's name, phone, seat, shift, plan end date and dues before you cancel anything. Then run both apps for one billing cycle and check that every renewal date matches before you switch the front desk over.

Library software free mein kaun sa hai?

Several apps have free plans for study libraries. As of October 2026, Librify has no student or seat cap on its free plan, 24Library allows 50 students, BookMyLib allows 100 active members and Libly allows 20 students. Match the limit to your seat count multiplied by your shifts.

Run your library free, with no cap on students or seats.
