24Library and Librify are both built for paid study libraries, both have a free plan, and both cost less than ₹1,000 a year for a small library. The differences sit in the limits: how many students the free plan allows, what the yearly price will be after the offer, and how attendance works at your door.

Quick answer

Pick 24Library if you have under 50 students, want QR gate check-in, or want the ₹749-a-year Premium offer for unlimited students. Pick Librify if you have more than 50 students and want to stay free, need per-shift fees, or want prices fixed by seat count from ₹59 a month (as of October 2026).

Librify is a library management app for private self-study libraries and reading rooms in India. 24Library is made by a Bengaluru team and sells to reading rooms, abhyasikas and also schools, colleges and coaching institutes. All 24Library facts below come from 24Library's pricing page and homepage, read on 27 October 2026.

Two facts some comparison pages get wrong

A few comparison pages online say Librify has no free plan, or that it collects UPI payments. Neither is correct as of October 2026, and both matter when you are choosing.

  • Librify has a free plan. It is free forever with no cap on students or seats, limited to one branch, one owner login and one admin login. You can see it on the Librify pricing page.
  • Librify records payments; it does not collect them. You record UPI and cash payments and Librify tracks who is due. Students do not pay inside Librify.
  • Ratings change. On 27 October 2026 the Librify owner app showed 4.8 stars from 80 reviews, not the lower figure quoted on some pages.

Where 24Library is stronger

24Library's biggest draw is price. Its Premium plan at ₹749 a year adds unlimited students, invoice generation, SMS payment reminders, priority support, AI insights and revenue reports, and comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee. For a 150-seat library, that is less than Librify Mini's ₹1,190 a year at the same size, as long as the offer price holds at renewal.

The second strength is the gate. 24Library's homepage describes QR check-in and check-out where the student scans once and the gate opens, with attendance logged at the same time. If you want to run late-night hours without someone at the door, that setup is worth a look, though you will need a gate that can be controlled.

24Library also lists biometric support, admin and staff roles, and multi-branch dashboards. Its Android owner app on Play had 5.0 stars from 40 reviews on 27 October 2026.

Where Librify is stronger

Librify's free plan is the main difference. 24Library's free plan stops at 50 students, while Librify's has no cap, so a 120-seat, two-shift library can run admissions, seats, shifts, QR self-registration and attendance without paying. Librify is used by 1500+ libraries across 20+ Indian states (Librify, 2026).

  • Shift pricing: Morning, Afternoon, Evening, Night, Full Day and 24-hour shifts with custom timings and a separate fee for each, plus fixed or floating seats across floors.
  • Prices tied to seats, not offers: the yearly price is always 10 times the monthly price, so you know the renewal cost on day one.
  • Indian languages: nine interface languages on Mini and Pro, set per branch, including Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali and Tamil.
  • A focused product: Librify is built only for seat-and-shift libraries, not schools or book lending, so every screen is about seats, renewals and dues.

Pricing compared at 40, 90 and 180 seats

Here is what each app costs in a year at three common library sizes, using public prices only.

Yearly cost by library size, from public pricing pages, as of October 2026.
Library size 24Library Librify Free Librify Mini Librify Pro
40 seats, under 50 students ₹0 (Free) ₹0 ₹590 ₹1,490
90 seats, about 150 students ₹749 (Premium offer) ₹0 ₹990 ₹1,790
180 seats, about 300 students ₹749 (Premium offer) ₹0 ₹1,190 ₹2,690

Read the table with two caveats. 24Library's ₹749 is a limited-time price, and its list price is ₹2,399. And the Librify Free column has no WhatsApp messages or revenue reports, which most libraries above 100 students will want.

Mistake we see often

Choosing on the first-year price alone. Owners lock in an offer, then find the renewal is three times higher just when 200 students' records are inside the app. Ask every vendor in writing what the second year will cost before you import your students.

Which library should pick which?

  • Pick 24Library if you have fewer than 50 students and want a free start, if you want a controlled QR gate, or if you are happy to pay ₹749 for a year of Premium and re-check the price at renewal.
  • Pick Librify if you have more than 50 students and want to stay free, if you charge different fees per shift, or if your desk staff work better in Hindi or another Indian language.
  • Pick Librify Pro if you run more than one branch and want unlimited branches, owners and admins under one account.

Switching between 24Library and Librify

The move takes an evening of data work and one month of overlap. Do it in a quiet week, away from the days when most of your students renew, so the desk has time to check records.

  1. Export or copy your student list from the old app while your plan is active.
  2. Put it in one sheet: name, 10-digit phone, seat, shift, plan end date, amount due.
  3. Set up seats, shifts and fees in Librify first.
  4. Send the sheet to Librify support, who can import a student list from Excel or CSV.
  5. Keep both apps for one billing cycle and compare totals before closing the old account.

Put the new registration QR code at the desk on the first day, so every new admission goes straight into the app you are moving to and the old list stops growing.

Librify publishes this blog. We have tried to keep this comparison fair; check each product's own site for current details.

Frequently asked questions

Does Librify have a free plan?

Yes. Librify has a free-forever plan with no cap on students or seats. It is limited to one branch, one owner login and one admin login, and it covers student records, QR self-registration, seats and shifts, attendance and the student app (as of October 2026). Reports, revenue tracking and WhatsApp messages start on the paid Mini plan.

Is 24Library free?

Yes, up to 50 students. 24Library's pricing page lists a free-forever plan with one branch, one admin account, QR registration, basic seat management and basic attendance, capped at 50 students (as of October 2026). Unlimited students, invoices, SMS reminders and revenue reports need the Premium plan.

Which is cheaper, Librify or 24Library?

It depends on seats and the renewal price. 24Library Premium is ₹749 a year as a limited-time price against a list price of ₹2,399. Librify Mini is ₹590 a year for up to 50 seats and ₹990 a year for 51-100 seats, and Pro starts at ₹1,490 a year (as of October 2026). Ask 24Library what the second year will cost.

Does Librify collect UPI payments from students?

No. Librify records payments; it does not collect them. You mark a UPI or cash payment and Librify updates the student's due date, and on Mini and Pro it sends a WhatsApp receipt. An online payment gateway is on Librify's roadmap, not live, as of October 2026.

Which app has the better Play Store rating?

Both are high and both have small review counts. On 27 October 2026, 24Library's owner app showed 5.0 stars from 40 reviews and Librify's showed 4.8 stars from 80 reviews, each with 1,000+ downloads. With so few reviews, a free trial in your own library tells you more than the star rating.
